Before You Begin

Everything you need for a successful mission

A little prep goes a long way. Here's a friendly five-step guide to help every Maker (and their grown-up) get set for a happy, mess-managed painting adventure.

A note for grown-ups

All painting must be done with parent or adult supervision. Paints, sealer, and small parts are meant for creative fun with a grown-up nearby at every step.

STEP 01

Prepare

Your creative space

  • Cover your table with newspaper, butcher paper, or a washable placemat.
  • Wear clothes that don't mind a few colorful memories.
  • Keep a cup of clean water and a paper towel nearby.
STEP 02

Paint

Bring your hero to life

  • Use light coats of paint instead of one thick layer.
  • Start with the larger areas first, then paint the little details.
  • There is no wrong way to paint. Every Maker creates something the world has never seen before.
STEP 03

Dry

Let it rest

  • Place your masterpiece somewhere safe and let it dry completely.
  • Most creations are ready in about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on how much paint was used.
STEP 04

Seal

Protect your masterpiece

  • When your project is completely dry, ask a grown-up to spray it with a clear acrylic sealer.
  • This helps protect the paint so your Maker can keep their creation for years to come.
  • Adult supervision required.
STEP 05

Clean Up

Easy tidying

  • Wash brushes with warm water and mild soap before the paint dries.
  • Wipe your workspace clean.
  • Then proudly display your newest Maker Mission!

A little reminder from The Three Makers

There isn't a perfect way to paint.

There isn't a right color for a dragon.

There isn't a wrong rainbow.

The only thing that matters is that your masterpiece looks like you.

Because your imagination has never existed before... and it never will again.
